Diving Bell Essay

In 1200 words, please type an answer to the following question. Due December 15.

In consideration of the book and film, The Diving Bell and The Butterfly as well as your own life, to what extent can we distinguish between knowing as an individual and knowing as a community? How much of one's knowledge depends on interaction with other knowers?

In writing the essay, consider how you and Bauby would answer the following:
a) What are the strengths and limitations of knowing as an individual vs. knowing by community?
b) Is there any way to gain knowledge by Description and Acquaintance (the Abel definition) without depending on interaction with others?
c) In gaining knowledge, which is the most powerful way we justify our knowledge claims: intuition, empirical sense perception, reasoning both by induction or deduction, memory, authority or divine revelation?
